The BTCC revved back into life during the summer break for the Dunlop Tyre Test over two days at Norfolk's Snetterton circuit.
The BTCC tyre test provided fans with some track action while at the same time the tyre supplier can get information on various tyres etc. The test was run over two days with the majority of teams and drivers present. It also gives the opportunity for some other drivers to get a flavour of the BTCC and the ability to test the current machines and for teams to assess these potential future drivers.
I went for the second day and could only attend the morning session (due to other commitments). It turned out to be a good choice as the afternoon session was a bit wet! The first session ended in a thunderstorm and that more or less remained for the rest of the day, but more of that bit later..
A nice bright warm sunny start to the morning greeted all the drivers as they got on with their respective testing. Its good to see that the fans were allowed access to the drivers (when they weren't pounding round the track) for selfies etc. It was more of a relaxed atmosphere across the pit lane even though it was a test session, the drivers weren't hanging about!
There was also the chance for drivers to really have a leisurely look at the data on the laptop afterwards.
As the morning progressed the temperature outside got warmer and the sky got darker... you could tell that a storm was on its way. With this in mind, a lot of drivers were out pounding round the circuit getting the laps in.
Towards the end of the season the rain and storm blew in and all the drivers made a dive for cover in the garages.
The BTCC returns to Snetterton at the end of the month and can't wait to see the action resume.
